Description
These galleries are thoroughly described in Ezekiel 42:3-7. It is beyond the scope of these descriptions to detail their construction from these verses in Ezekiel. However, some essential facts derived from their construction will be elucidated here. The orientation is west to east. The height of each of the three stories is identical and is 5 cubits (8.75 feet). The depth is 10 cubits (17.5 feet). There are 2.5 cubits (4.375-feet) in front of the first row of seats and 2 cubits (3.5 feet) in front of the base of the steps.
There are six sections of galleries on each floor. Each floor of galleries contains 260 seats. Each floor of galleries is identical to the other floors, so the entire gallery structure holds 780 seats. The 5 cubits wide entrances from the chambers into the galleries are shown. There are three identical entrances per floor. Stairwells on either side of the entrances are shown. The galleries may only be accessed from the chambers from floor to floor using these stairwells.
